Southern Poet Honored with National Poetry Appointment

Natasha Trethewey has been named the next U.S. Poet Laureate.

A Pulitzer Prize winner and former poet laureate of Misssisippi, Ms. Trethewey is currently a professor at Atlanta’s Emory University. She is one of the youngest poets named as U.S. Poet Laureate, and the first Southern poet in many years to be named to the post.
