“To be in a library is one of the purest of all experiences.”

So wrote library champion Lawrence Clark Powell (1906-2001). Powell is one of dozens of articulate library supporters quoted in a speech delivered by UK resident David Crystal, in his protest against library closings underway this year in Wales. Crystal’s entire speech is worth a read…and the library-love quotations he uses that weren’t already included in the Booklover’s Blog’s Bookish Quotes will most certainly be added to it.
